Meet the team at Communisis
Introducing Cara Walker, our Executive Director of Digital Solutions. Cara talks about how positivity, healthy challenges and collaboration are key to success.
We ask Cara Walker, what does it take to be an Executive Director?
Name: Cara Walker
Role: Executive Director of Digital Solutions
Location: Leeds
How long have you been working in your field?
I have been with Communisis for six and a half years now, and in four different roles within the business. I have been part of our digital solutions team for the past year and a half, and in that time have taken all the experiences I have gathered from my previous roles and harnessed them into the digital strategy we have today.
What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your role?
I like to think it’s my energy, enthusiasm and passion for what I do. No matter what role I am playing, I want to make it my own and have a positive impact on the role and the people around me.
What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do/your greatest professional achievement?
There is still so much more to come – watch this space! Personally, I thrive on new experiences and challenges so I would class the fact that I have managed to find those in all the roles that I have undertaken, and meet them, as a great achievement and one I plan to continue building on.
What is the most important thing you want people to know about you (and/or your company)?
Positive relationships and collaboration are so important in my view. You don’t need to be an expert in everything to make your mark and make a difference – often you get the best results when you push yourself out of your comfort zone.
A positive culture is a critical driver to success, and I am excited to see how we can continue to drive forward and grow into 2021.
Tell me why you decided on your career. Why not something else?
I didn’t have a set path as such, I have always been very driven, and my career has grown organically. The key for me has always been adding to my knowledge and experience and I love a challenge.
What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
When I am not working it’s all about my dog, Barkley (I am sure this answer won’t surprise anyone!). I am also partial to the odd glass of wine and I love to cook a roast dinner.
Tell us one random fact about you that most people won’t know
I love music but have zero musical skill myself, unfortunately! Seeing Metallica playing the Black Album in its entirety at Download Festival was easily one of the most iconic moments of my life.
I am also a secret Strictly Come Dancing fan so loved Bill Bailey dancing to Enter Sandman, it doesn’t get better than that!
